Since 2006 Dave and Darrin Yardley have been aggressively putting their own stamp on the fertile Connecticut music scene. Producing a mix of old-school, Florida-meets-New York death metal with modern influences, the Yardley brothers have produced the aural equivalent of razor wire: raw, brutal metal.
2011 saw the release of Kayotik’s debut EP, Born Through Brutality. Six tracks of blinding intensity, the album garnered the band state-wide notice and staked their claim as CT’s heaviest and most brutal export.
Fast-forward five years and 2016 brings us a new era of Kayotik’s legacy of brutality. In this year the band added their new bassist/vocalist Tom Calver to the mix and released their first full-length album, Enslaved to Chaos. The album is a non-stop assault of blast beats, down-tuned guitars, and scathing lyrical content that will redefine your thought of what New England is capable of producing in the realm of death metal.
Since 2016 Kayotik has been raising chaos throughout New England, playing with bands such as Deicide, Dying Fetus, Obituary, and Immolation to name a few. Their “all-or-nothing” stage presence leaves fans wanting to know how much more they can push the limits of their music.
By the end of the decade Kayotik started writing new material releasing a teaser for the new album with the song Death’s Acre in 2019. The band continued to play shows throughout 2019 but went completely radio silent at the start of 2020 to focus on writing new material. Intending on giving fans something more, they looked for the perfect addition to the line-up.
In May of 2021, after a year of searching, Kayotik brought on lead guitarist Alex Calver. Keeping it in the family, Alex is the son of bassist/vocalist Tom Calver. Alex’s old school influences bring a new dimension to an already extreme and brutal set.
With a full album of music written, Kayotik plans to record and release their newest album to the Connecticut death metal scene sometime in 2022.
